BRIGHT NEW WORLD EXHIBITION
To accompany a presentation in June 2014, I conceptualized, curated, and designed an exhibition on fluorescence, phosphorescence, and photochromism.
The presentation and museum are aimed at lower-elementary aged children, so it was important to assure that the concepts were explained in both accurate and colloquial terms.
The design of the panels was made to resemble the panels the museum already used. Since it is similar to a children's museum in a small space, they didn't want the new exhibit to differ from existing displays.
To show how household objects glow, we needed to create a darkened space. We constructed a 6 foot by 6 foot box with curtains to shut out light for the fluorescence and phosphorescence examples. The panels were displayed on the outside of the interactive next to it, and photochromism would be displayed on the outside of the box.
